THE WINTER DANCE

The snow does not fall in Southern California, but frost and ice do cover the landscape in the early mornings. Your horse will need some extra time to warm up in this December weather and you might want to blanket him or her at night. The average daytime high is 62 degrees Fahrenheit.

Nick Name(s): Jake
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: Sunday, October 31st, 1:25 am, 1992
Years in the Saddle: 15
Wealth Status: He himself is poor, but his uncle is very rich and his parents were upper middle class
Riding Style: English
Disciplines: 3-Day Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunting, Games, has been trained in flat racing.
Family:

His parents are both deceased. His mother was killed in a flat racing or 'track' accident when he was ten and his father was killed in a car crash when Jake was twelve. He doesn't know of his sister, Athena, who is his junior by one year. His uncle Brad, who is his current legal guardian, lives in Cambria, California (which is about three or four hour's by car from Warrior Falls), is quite rich and breeds and sells Warmbloods and Thoroughbred. Jake and his uncle keep in touch through email mostly, but with an occasional phone call. Jake has yet to discover that his sister, Athena, exists.
Father: John
Mother: [size=1]Alicia Alexander (Deceased)

Siblings: Athena Alexander (Younger sister) (15) (Unknown)
Extended Family: Bardley
Religion: Christian: Lutheran
Strengths:
  • He's a nearly expert rider
  • He's good at talking to people
  • He's mature for his age (somewhat)
  • He's very resilient
  • He's good at talking in front of large groups (also known as public speaking)
  • Skilled writer
  • He's physically strong and fit

Flaws:
  • He can be a little too impressed with himself at times; in other words, mildly conceited
  • He's a terrible liar
  • He can be a jerk
  • He judges people upon first meeting and finds it difficult to let go of his first judgment
  • He's a little clumsy
  • Fights with him can sometimes escalate to the physical and he either ends up being the one hurt or he won't forgive himself for the other person's injury (unless it's someone he really hates
  • He's nearsighted, but wears glasses to correct that
  • He's horrible at math
  • He's somewhat gullible in some instances or rather he believes what he wants to hear or what he wants to read without a doubt and he shuts out what he doesn't want to be true unless there's over whelming evidence about it
  • He doesn't appreciate something or someone until it's/they're gone

Personality:

Before one meets Jake, one might logically think that he is an angst-filled teenager. One will be most frightfully mistaken, however, as on the surface; Jake is a happy and friendly person, considering both his parents were killed within a year of each other. In fact, the word which would best describe him is 'resilient', for he does have a remarkable tendency to 'snap back' from the unpleasant things which make life a little too interesting at times. It could be said that he's one of those people who 'always look on the bright side of life'.

Of course, young Jake isn't all smiles and friendly conversation; he's very opinionated and judgmental and he gives everyone a 'rank' or 'label' when he first meets them and it is fairly difficult to break that first impression with Jake.

He has good taste as well and likes to use only the nicest of items for his horses, his friends and himself. This can sometimes get expensive and that's when he goes to his uncle, Brad, who's the owner of a Sport Horse breeding facility.

Like most of us, Jake has a dark, 'angsty' side and he can be a downright jerk, especially if you insult his way of life. If you begin a debate with him on a topic which he feels strongly about, he will escalate it to the shouting point. Moreover, he’s a terrible liar and he could not tell a lie to save his life, well, maybe his life...maybe. Yet he still tries to lie frequently, despite his failure time and time again. He can be quite a nasty, argumentative person at times and if he doesn't like you then there's probably a really good reason for it.

Jake is a bit of a naturalist and enjoys the outdoors, but if you destroy his serenity, he will snap at you, unintentionally, but he will still snap at you bad temperedly.

Appearence:

The sixteen-year-old is the object of many girls' eyes due to his good looks. His dark brown hair is left to grow in an untamed manner over his head and he can be found frequently running a hand through it to keep it out of his eyes. he wears round glasses nearly constantly as he is nearsighted, a trait inherited from his father, but his eyes behind his classes are a bright, stunning green and when he looks at someone a certain way, they might experience something like having their brain x-rayed, even though he has no such power. He is not freakishly tall, but neither is he short either, standing at 5'9". He's fairly light weight too, at 150 pounds of muscles, gained from all his riding. His skin is a medium olive shade in color, both through genetics and many hours spent in the California sun.

Hair: Dark brown, untidy
Eyes: Bright green
Skin: Medium Olive
Weight: 150 pounds
Height: 5'9"
Clothing:

Jake is a very casual person and he tends to wear jeans or breeches the majority of the time with a simple T-shirt. His idea of more classy attire is a button down shirt under a sweater vest. Be specific when asking him to dress for a certain occasion; if you say 'formal attire', then he will most likely show up in white breeches and a solid black coat, his show shirt underneath adorned with a bright, white stock tie, decorated with a gold show pin.
Nationality:

Jake was born and raised in Southern California, but his mother came from Scotland and his father's parents first were Scottish, then lived in England and then came to the United States.
Accent: Californian
History:

Born to parents impassioned by the flat racing industry, Jake grew up aboard a horse and was taught the theory of his beloved equids by his father, a vet and he was taught the thrill of sitting astride one of these noble beasts by his mother, a jockey. When he was ten years old, tragedy struck as his mother was skilled in a race. Less than a year later, his father was killed in a car accident. However Jake was not yet alone in the world and his paternal uncle, Brad Alexander took the unusually resilient boy into his care for six months. Unlike his brother and his sister-in-law, Brad bought, bred and sold Sport Horses, specializing in Wamrbloods and Thoroughbred and, in time, Jake had learned the code of 3-Day Eventing. Six months after he had arrived, he received a scholarship to participate in a fine school in Germany. Taking the chance, he went off to the unknown country where he met and bought Spartacus Rebellion (with his uncle's money) and rose to Grand Prix level Dressage and Show Jumping by the time that he was fifteen years old.

While at the academy in Germany, he met Diefendorf, the boy with whom he became enemies with within the first three seconds of first meeting each other and the two battled constantly until a month after Jake's sixteenth birthday, when he left for home. What awaits him there, but s sister he never knew he had and, of course, some enemies.

As soon as he arrived back, he and Brad entered some of Brad's horses in a prestigious Dressage show. Seeing as Jake was now a high skilled rider, he was to ride many of the horses in the show ring. When he was riding, the evil John Murdock came walking by and noticed him. Immediately, he hatched his evil plan involving Jake and approached him and offered him a job as Headmaster of an old academy which had been inactive for many years. Jake, who couldn't believe his luck, accepted and worked as the school's Headmaster until late August of the following year when Murdock's sudden death revealed that it had all been for the Japanese game show and Murdock's money-making scheme. As he was still technically a minor and in high school, Jake was more or less forced to resign from the ancient school. What will it be like for him to take classes which he had once been teaching? It was too good to be true, but how can he return to being 'normal’ after all he's done? Our well-known Jake is in for some serious catch up time for all his good luck.

Light was fading fast and Peregrine Alexander was still at dinner, entwined in the usually nonsense with his spoiled, insensitive family. The sky was an overcast, murky grey and what little light still came from above, cast shadows over the green mounds of earth which marked the resting places of the Scoailte royals for the past century or so. Over each one, there was a carpeting of flowers, each plant a different color: some were red for a warrior killed in battle, some for white for a noble who died of old age. A handful were pink, meaning a child had died. A couple were green in color, meaning the bones of the one who rested beneath them had been wrongfully executed or had been executed by enemies and one or two had blue roses atop their graves, which meant disease and one, one grave at the very back of the field, bore a single black rose plant within its soil and from that plant their grew a single, nearly perfect rose, alone, yet standing growing straight and tall, as if it was proud to be there. There was a pathway which led through these rather foreboding mounds, but it was not paved with dirt or even pebbles; instead it was shining with a path of white crystals, packed out together, forming a perfectly level pathway which shone out in the fading light. This pathway led not to some central place upon a hill higher than all the rest, but it wove its way through the royal garden and to the one mound with the single black rose and most unusually, the path did not end at the front base to the mount, but it wove around to the back.

At the base of each mound, there was a great marble slab set into the earth, the grass carefully trimmed away so that the name on the tombstone could be viewed. The path did not split off into tributaries to each grave, but only led to the black rose mound, which was set apart from the others and, as stated above, was at the back of the city of the dead.

There were a fair amount of trees planted around as well and their leaves were still a vibrant green as the climate hadn't flown into winter yet and their large, leafy canopies spread over a vast area of space, provided shade to any who might underneath them. There was a fountain too, in the middle of the garden and it was of a mermaid sitting upon an oddly-shaped rock, looking into the depths of the water which spouted from inches from her right hand, which she was using to balance herself on the rock. She was quite a pretty woman, had she been real, with a face filled with both serenity and sorrow. Her long stone hair whipped back from her face in a way that was so life-like it was hard to believe that she was made of marble. Her skin was smooth and the folds of the dress she wore could have been flapping in the occasional breeze that lifted the leaves of the trees and stirred the roses around her and yet it was her eyes which really made her look as though she was breathing and gazing into the waters below with all that weight upon her mind. Silver trout swam in the waters below and they were unlike any other fish in the kingdom as they could eat only live mice dropped into their pool, a rodent's watery death.

Suddenly, a vicious wind whipped through the trees, ripping at the plants and jolting the wind chimes into pounding out their calming song with more energy them they were meant to exhibit. It glanced across the top of the water, causing a type of mist to float into the air, spray from the waters of the mermaid. Falling leaves of both emerald and rusty shades skittered across the gleaming alabaster pathway. The acropolis had become a whirlwind of moving air and windy tempests and it was the last place on earth one would expect to see one who went by the name of...
